If you pay for your membership using Paypal then you will notice that the cost is slightly higher than if you pay by cheque. This is to help offset the charge from Paypal, and for all membership offers other than overseas is set at no more than 50p, the equivalent of a second class stamp. We apologise that we have to pass on this charge but we price our membership as keenly as possible and believe we offer one of the best deals for a member society in the country.

Black Country Society - Electronic Membership

It is with regret that we can no longer offer the electronic membership to UK or European customers. With recent changes to VAT regulations covering electronic publications there is no threshold on payable VAT. We do not wish to register for VAT for a variety of reasons and other (legal) means will have to be found if you wish to receive an electronic copy of our magazine. We apologise for this situation, a query to HMRC has been made, but it is clear we would be liable to VAT, even on the small amount we charge for this service. Those living outside UK or Europe are not affected by this change.

If you wish to contact us (on any of the email links) we may be able to find a way for you to receive or continue to receive the magazine, this would have to be free of payment for the magazine.

For non-UK or EU residents £8.00 you can now become an eMember. This means you will receive a pdf copy of each issue as it is released. You also have the other benefits of Society membership. This is aimed at overseas members, who pay a high premium owing to higher postage costs. It may also suit those who have poor eyesight as the onscreen pages can be zoomed in to allow them to be read (UK/EU residents contact us before ordering). Once the electronic copy is ready to be distributed a link will be sent to your chosen email account for you to download your copy of the magazine. What does membership bring?

All members of the Society receive four copies of 'The Blackcountryman' for their annual subscription. They are also offered the chance to purchase our publications from time to time at a reduced rate.

Membership helps provide valuable financial support for the Society, and in return offers opportunities to attend interesting meetings and social occasions. Above all, you can enjoy and help to promote further interest in the past, present and future of the region. There are around 1500 members of the Society (including ex-pats in all parts of the world).

Black Country Society membership is open to individuals, independent groups and organisations recognised by the society.
